A Brief Negotiation
Let's make a deal, you and I:
You read this poem and analyze it's meter,
look up the big words in books of wisdom and rules –
dictionary, encyclopedia, bar tenders' guide –
and agonize over its social context
before finally deciding what it all means,
then I'll write another one.
